Nowadays, web brewers are an essential part of work and study. We need a web browser to do most research work, we can find almost anything on the internet. Web browser knows about everything that we don’t.

Suppose that your Mozilla Firefox stops working at midnight, and you work on an urgent assignment which submission last date is tomorrow morning, then what will you do in that situation? Error show like page turn on white, cursor does not move and there is a message of “not responding” on the top of the bar.

No need to panic, here are the solutions of Mozilla Firefox not responding:

Reason of Mozilla Firefox not responding: –

There are various reasons for Mozilla Firefox not responding. Some of them are explained below:

  1. High usage of Random accessible memory (RAM) or CPU resources by Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Web browsers use CPU resources of your computer while displaying pages, playing or downloading videos. When a large amount of memory is used simultaneously, the performance of the computer is compromised and the Mozilla Firefox browser becomes unresponsive.
  3.  Too large history of download:-

A limited storage space assigned to your Mozilla Firefox browser’s downloading history. If you reached near about your storage limit, then Mozilla Firefox not responding when we try to download an image or video.

4) Corrupt places system:-

Places is a history, keyword, and the bookmark management system of the Mozilla Firefox browser. In case, your Mozilla Firefox not responding at random times, then there is a possibility that your places system is having some issues.

5) Abnormal shut of Mozilla Firefox:-

Sometimes, Firefox freezing up just before its closure due to which it remains in the memory of the computer. If next time you want to open the browser then it can’t work in a proper way because of already existing memory.

1) Resolve high usage of RAM issues in Mozilla Firefox:-

Have you left the more tabs open for quiet time in your browser? When this more number of tabs is open, it uses more memory. It will be a good option to start with restarting Mozilla Firefox, so don’t forget to save or bookmarks the tabs before quitting. If Firefox not responding on startup then it may be because of high usage of RAM by browser follow the below-given steps:
Go to “Open Menu” on the upper right corner of the browser

  • Go to help> Troubleshooting information
  • Click on the “Restart with add-ons disabled

These steps disable the extensions and theme of your Mozilla Firefox. If the response of the browser increases significantly, then disable all the extensions and themes.

When you try to open a web page in your Mozilla Firefox, the page contains a lot of unwanted, data or activities which use the CPU resources. This web page includes unwanted ads or tracking activities from Facebook or Google. In this situation, you can use some extensions like Adblocker, u Block origin and privacy badger to stop the unwanted usage of resources. This will significantly help to lower the RAM usage and get rid of Mozilla Firefox not responding issue.

2) Remove corrupt places system from Mozilla Firefox:-

If you don’t have enough time of unresponsiveness of the Mozilla Firefox browser or if your Mozilla Firefox is not responding again and again then you need to change a few files on your computer. Here are the steps to do it:

  • Click on the “open menu” on the top right corner
  • Go to help> Troubleshooting information
  • Now, go to the “open folder” under application basics. This process will open the Firefox file;
  • Exit from Mozilla Firefox
  • Now, in the Firefox profile, search for only files: places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal. Replace them with places.sqlite.old and places.sqlite-journal.
  • Restart Firefox.
